J.R. Fisher was born and raised in Amish country PA. He felt a calling to ministry at a very early age and assumed that meant becoming an Amish/Mennonite preacher one day. God had other plans when in 1992 a breath-taking life altering encounter with the Holy Spirit changed the course of his life. Religion was replaced by a tangible, vibrant relationship, and by 1994 J.R. had made a commitment to full-time ministry. The early years consisted of singing Gospel music with his family, ministering to homeless people, co-pastoring a church, and prison ministry. He was introduced to inner healing in the late nineties while he was a chaplain at Lancaster County Prison, which quickly became a full-time job when Fishers Of Men was launched in 2002.
J.R. acknowledges that he is still a work in progress. His attempts to pass along the things he has learned do not make him in any way superior to or more valuable than anyone else. His desire is for God to be glorified through any lives that are touched by this ministry.
